One of the things I was most excited about when I booked my plane ticket to Scotland was that I would arrive just in time for the celebrations of Guy Fawkes Day (aka Bonfire Night or, my personal favorite, Plot Night). Glasgow does a massive fireworks display in one of the biggest parks in town, Glasgow Green. The only downside is that Glasgow Green doesn’t actually have a bonfire on Bonfire Night. But they made up for it with over 3,000 fireworks that they set off!
They expected more than 50,000 people to be in Glasgow Green for the festivities!
Promptly at 7:30, they began to light up the skies with fireworks.
The theme of the night was Superheroes, so they set the fireworks to the tunes of superhero movies and tv shows. Rambo I struggled a bit to identify them though.
A little tribute to Flash Gordon. Who I suppose is a bit of a superhero….in some people’s eyes. (*cough*Rambo*cough*)
I took a hyperlapse video of the finale for you!
Ok, so that’s a bit of a whirlwind, but it was awesome.
Plot night is almost reminiscent of our 4th of July celebrations….the fireworks bit, at least. Okay, so maybe that’s the only thing it has similar since the Brits don’t have cookouts and we don’t (usually) have bonfires. BUT, there are lots of fireworks! And, I mean, who doesn’t love fireworks for whatever reason they can find?
