Piglet and I discovered that we happened to be in DC during Restaurant Week. One of the participating restaurants was La Tasca – a tapas bar. After going to Barcelona to see Kiwi, I’m a bit of a tapas fiend. The restaurant week deal was a glass of wine or sangria, 3 tapas, and dessert for $35. Obviously, we started with sangria. Sangria tinta for me and blackberry mango for Piglet.
After much deliberation, we chose:
Dátiles con tocino (Bacon wrapped dates). My favorite. Albóndigas (pork and beef meatballs) Mejillones al eneldo (mussels) Patatas Bravas (Brave Potatoes) Apparently the sangria was starting to take hold….
Trufa de chocolate (dark chocolate truffle croquant). Piglet loved her trufa. Brazo de Gitano (rolled sponge cake with layers of quince jam). I preferred my cake. La Tasca has an amazing unlimited tapas for lunch for $28 (including a non-alcoholic drink) which is a killer deal I wish we had caught. They are also having Sangria Festival until August 31st where pitchers of sangria are only $20. If tapas are your thing, La Tasca is pretty awesome. They have 5 locations in Virginia and D.C.
