Officially called El Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria, La Boqueria is one of the best food markets in Barcelona conveniently located just off La Rambla. We decided to have a lunch of tapas made by our resident Spaniard, Kiwi. So she took Leacy, CanadiAnne and I down to La Boqueria to grocery shop.
The meat was unbelievably fresh. We got a fish and they filleted it for us right there. Check out all of that chocolate! I had to refrain otherwise I would have bought one of everything! Even with the insane amount of people there, it was a pleasant experience. It wasn’t so crowded that you couldn’t move about or get to the counters to get something. Also surprisingly, it didn’t reek! The seafood area smelt a bit fishy – but not sickeningly so. And those fresh smoothies were refreshing and delicious! The prices were good, too. If I lived in Barcelona, I’d be getting most all of my groceries from here!
